The QED XT5 power cable utilizes the award-winning X-Tube technology to meet the specific requirements of a mains power cable. Designed to deliver clean and stable current to audio equipment, it ensures optimal performance of your hi-fi electronics. This power cable reflects QED's extensive experience and dedication to quality engineering in the field of hi-fi, home cinema cables, and connectivity.

Key Features

  • X-Tube Technology: Ensures even current flow and minimizes the proximity effect.
  • Ferrite Insulation: Reduces radio frequency noise from the mains supply.
  • Practical Design: Slim and flexible for ease of use.

Detailed Description

X-Tube Technology

The XT5 power cable incorporates X-Tube technology, which involves braiding individual cores in the live and neutral conductors to resist eddy currents. The twist-rate of the strands ensures no parallel conductors, promoting even current flow at all frequencies. This configuration is further enhanced with K130PVC insulation to stabilize current capacitance and exceed international safety standards. The entire arrangement is given a hollow LDPE core to control cable inductance.

Ferrite Insulation

To combat radio frequency noise from the domestic mains supply, the XT5 employs a ferrite-impregnated inner jacket. This creates an effective shield against high-frequency noise, similar to the successful implementation in QED’s Audio 40 range of analogue and digital interconnects. This design choice ensures compatibility and noise-free performance.

Practical Design

The XT5 is designed to be practical, with a focus on thinness and flexibility. The X-Tube treatment is applied only to the live and neutral cores, while the earth core retains a conventional geometry. This results in a cable with a cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm², making it flexible and easy to handle without compromising its high audiophile standards.
