Detailed Description

Material and Construction

The LH-9000 features a composite structure made from carbon fiber resin and magnesium. Carbon fiber is chosen for its vibration dampening properties, reducing the unwanted resonances that can affect sound quality. The use of magnesium ensures that the headshell remains lightweight yet strong, providing the necessary rigidity to maintain the optimal performance of the mounted cartridge.

Design and Adjustability

The LH-9000 offers precision adjustability, particularly in terms of azimuth. This allows for the exact alignment of the cartridge, which is critical for achieving excellent channel separation and minimizing distortion. The headshell’s design also facilitates easy alignment with a variety of tonearms, making it a versatile component in different audio setups.

Compatibility with Cartridges

The LH-9000 is designed to complement high-end cartridges, particularly those in Ortofon’s Cadenza and MC series, including the MC A95 and MC Anna Diamond. Its versatile design allows for seamless integration with these cartridges, ensuring optimal sound reproduction across a range of audio experiences.

Leadwires and Connection

The LH-9000 comes equipped with leadwires that simplify the connection process. Ortofon cartridges feature color-coded terminals: red and green for the right channel (hot and ground), and white and blue for the left channel (hot and ground). The green terminal is used to ground the cartridge housing or motor system when connected. It is recommended to connect the lead wires to the cartridge and headshell before mounting to ensure proper orientation. Notably, Ortofon cartridge terminal pins have a diameter of 1.2 mm, while the headshell’s pins are slightly smaller at 1.0mm.
